This shows the Intercom cable that they use to be able to talk.

They hold the switch in their hand like this and the thumb is what activates the button.

Here is how they hook their monkey harness to the aircraft. They will use their hand to hold on as shown for security.

As you can see, the leather is functional all across the glove, providing the protection necessary.
